The silent monster


The perpetual passing of time really does make it difficult to accomplish many of one's goals. How to work the currently desired 45 hours/week (not including driving time and lunch, etc), fulfill personal and spiritual obligations, maintain friendships, and also reach the level of fitness aspired to is the question.
No one here is sure, but suggestions are welcome. The idea of a 10-hr cap per week is being examined. There's apparently a method to that type of madness.
Seriously, how do you keep it all straight?

A few suggestions...
(1)Work at a restaurant requiring you to be in for your shift no earlier than 5 pm (allowing for much coveted daylight to be utilized to it's fullest)
(2)Go to grad school (so there is both the sense of forward motion in terms of one's innate drives for success and achievement, and incredible amounts of scheduling flexibility)
(3)Get a training partner with whom you can have meaningful conversation (wherein spiritual, relational, accountability and giggle needs are met-at least in part... maybe men don't have giggle needs, you can scratch that if not applicable)
(4)Make sure you're living in California (people respect the centrality of activity to a healthy lifestyle here).
I would say that just about covers it.
I mean...works for me...

Thanks kmh. There's no way I could work in a restaurant, and I've already done grad school (and you're right), but I really like 3 and 4. It's true. I like California too. Again thanks for the comments.

I'm not sure if I have giggle needs, but the good conversation certainly helps.

Suggestions 1-3 were primarily to serve entertainment purposes (although a resonably accurate reflection of my life). As one seeking to navigate the reality and frustration of a filled to nearly overflowing life, it seemed like you could use a smile, or at least an eye roll followed by a slight head shake... Drop your present job for the sake of refilling Diet Coke's and wine glasses for the ease of training? Seriously?
That is a bit ridiculous.
(However, your response was very polite, which I found quite noteworthy...and amusing.)
As for suggestion 4, well, I pretty much meant that.
California is amazing.
